Abbie Wagner (she/they) is thrilled to be joining the Pitt Theatre Department as the ATD! Abbie hails from a very small town in Wisconsin you've probably never heard of (Potosi) and completed their undergrad in theatre technology in a slightly bigger small town in Wisconsin you may have heard of (Platteville). In 2022, Abbie was awarded their MFA in scenic design from West Virginia University. Their thesis, "Here is the Place My Lord" discussed the adaptation and implementation of traditional scenic design elements in a fully filmed production of King Lear.
Professionally, Abbie has worked at numerous theatrical and production companies including Berkshire Theatre Group, Indiana Repertory Theatre, Summer Stock Stage, and The Platteville Summer Arts Festival. Some of their favorite credits include King Lear(scenic designer), Macbeth (ATD), Nina Simone: Four Women (carpenter), Rent (scenic charge artist), and the NFL Draft (scenic artist). In their free time, Abbie enjoys bouldering, camping, kayaking (excited about those Pittsburgh rivers!), and playing videogames. They are looking forward to working with the department!
