Abigail is the Assistant Technical Director for the Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Pittsburgh. She works with the technical director to manage the daily operations of the scene shop and instructs students in the construction and installation of scenic units for various productions.
Abigail holds an MFA in Scenic Design from West Virginia University and a BA in Theatre Production and Technology from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. With over ten years of experience in technical theatre, Abigail has worked with numerous theatrical and scenic production companies and unions, including Berkshire Theatre Group, Indiana Repertory Theatre, Summer Stock Stage, The Platteville Summer Arts Festival, Tyler Scenic, USA 829 and IATSE. Her background includes experience in scenic design, carpentry, scenic painting, lighting design, electrics, and props.
She was nominated for the Conference of Southern Graduate Schools’ Master’s Thesis Award for her thesis on combining traditional scenic design techniques with film in the West Virginia University Production of King Lear. The production was filmed in collaboration with WVPBS, and is available to stream on PBS.
