Tongues of Men and Angels
"...whether
there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall
cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away."
--1 Corinthians
13:8
The prophets of the New Testament and the alchemists of the Dark Ages knew the
atom bomb would both forever change and fulfill the destiny of humanity.
Emilio, a modern-day alchemist, finds himself responsible for protecting the first
atomic bomb from covetous forces, but it is a burden his wife Victoria
despises. Just as the day was a turning point for humanity, it will be a
turning point for their marriage: as their words fail, they turn to violence
and madness to make themselves, and their desperate love, understood.
TONGUES OF MEN AND ANGELS is an interactive theatre experiment that blends horror and tragedy to strike at what terrifies us most: abandonment, devastation, betrayal, loneliness, and love. A special production for USITT and Halloween in the haunted halls of the Cathedral.
